This seminar formed part of the Seminar Series on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Climate Change, jointly coordinated by Lund University and the University of Gothenburg.
The seminar featured two presentations addressing regenerative legal frameworks and carbon capture in the context of the net zero transition. Professor Gipperth presented on regenerative legal frameworks that enhance biodiversity and climate resilience, followed by Dr Muinzer’s presentation on CCS and sustainability, exploring law, policy, and standardization perspectives across multiple jurisdictions.

Lena Gipperth
Regenerative legal frameworks enhancing biodiversity and climate resilience
Lena Gipperth is Professor and Pro-Dean at the Department of Law, University of Gothenburg. Her research focuses on environmental law, marine governance, water management and biodiversity. She served as Director for the Centre for Sea and Society at the University of Gothenburg (2015–2021) and has been involved in numerous multidisciplinary research projects, including MISTRA BioPath, the FRAM Centre for Future Chemical Risk Assessment and Management Strategies, and the ZORRO Zostera Restoration programme.
Thomas Muinzer
CCS and sustainability in the context of the net zero transition: law, policy and standardization perspectives
Thomas Muinzer is Reader in Energy Transition Law at the University of Aberdeen. His research focuses on climate and energy law and policy. He is the author of the first monograph on the UK Climate Change Act 2008, the contributing editor of National Climate Change Acts (Hart, 2021), and co-editor of Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage: Law, Policy and Standardization Perspectives (Springer, 2025).
